Default Songs for your funeral?

Been thinkin about stuff lately. I don't want my funeral to be some durn tear jerkin cryin event. It will be a keg party somewhere where my friends and family can rejoice and remember me for the good times. Here are the 2 songs I want played when the time comes.

Start out with this one.

Finish it out with a little Jones.

I've heard "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" at two police officers' funerals (line of duty deaths). Perfect lyrics for an officer. Since I've toted a gun at work since I was 17 years old (Marines/LEO), I wouldn't mind if it was played at my funeral:

Mama, take this badge from me
I can't use it any more
It's getting dark, too dark to see
I'm feelin' like I'm knocking on Heaven's door

Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them any more
That long cold black cloud is coming down
I'm feelin' like I'm knocking on Heaven's door

Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door, ooh yeah
Knock, knock, knocking on Heaven's door

Baby stay right here with me
'Cause I can't see you anymore
This ain't the way it's supposed to be
I feel I'm knocking on heaven's door
Son won't you remember me?
I can't be with you anymore
A lawman's life is never free
I feel I'm knocking on heaven's door

Chew those are awesome lyrics. I've heard the song a thousand times but never realized the law enforcement side of it.

I like both of those. I have some written down that I have heard over the years that will work. Heard this one last month and added it to the mix, instrumental but it sounds good.

My wife has strict instructions that at her funeral they are to play Spirit In The Sky and crank it up till the speakers cant handle it. A little old school rock but the words do have some meaning. As for me I will go with Kris Kristoffersons Why Me Lord.

My nephew passed away 1 1/2 years ago. He suffered with bi-polar disorder which accounted for many of the trouble in his short life.
My B.I.L. used to clam him down reciting Kansas Carry on my wayward son there'll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest don't ya' cry no more.
They played it for his service. I have a hard time anytime it comes on the radio anymore.
