Question about tagging deer

I shot a buck last night and am going to drop him off to be processed. Since the processor will keep the tag with the meat what do I need to legally transport the head/horns to the taxidermist?

All you need is the receipt from the processor.

Had a game warden tell me you have to have a Wild Life Resource document. Write on there you are giving the deer to yourself....odd but thats what he swears by

If you go home before going to processor, the book used to say “tagging requirements cease to exist” when you reach final destination (residence, cold storage facility, processor)

I’ve never been checked, but I have always taken my meat home. Deboned. Had it on ice, then taken to processor without head (proof of sex) or tag.

Might be doing it wrong.
