My son shot his first buck!

My son Colt started hunting with me when he was four and only went a few times when I was able to hunt a box stand. Last season he insisted, well basically demanded, that I take him down into the hardwood bottoms where the big bucks are. A few weeks into the season he and I were both 20 to 30 feet up in lock on stands like he was a Pro. We put a lot of time in the woods together last year, and he was able to watch me harvest a doe, a spike, and a lot of hogs.

Well this summer he advised me this was the year he needed to shoot a deer of his own, that was bigger than daddies...

So after time spent on the range with the .223 we hunted all of youth weekend and never even saw a deer. This past weekend I had to work so I sent him to my dads and he didn't see anything Saturday and ended up missing a doe Sunday morning. Well I guess all things happen for a reason because yesterday evening this Ole Mossy Horned 3 point walked out and he laid the smackdown on him. He had to let me know his first buck was bigger than my first buck of course and even though I wasn't there with him, I had buck fever as soon as my dad called me. Didn't know deer hunting could make you shake when you don't even have them around you. 6 years old and he is a monster buck hunter. This is what it's all about !
