Deer love cubes. When we put cubes out for the bull, if he did not get them before dark, he would not get many. They would clean most of them up over night, even with the feeder running.

I've also heard it called "cake" as well, when referring to cattle cubes. Rabbit pellets are the same, just smaller versions - so should we call them cattle pellets, or deer pellets?

Seeing that massive amount of high protein feed begs the question; can deer founder themselves?

My deer in SourLake won’t eat cubes. They don’t like cotton seed but mix corn and cotton seed and they wear themselves out and fight over it.My coons love the cubes though.

I used to feed cubes 3-4 times a week. It got to the point the deer would stand off and wait until the cows were done. As soon as the cows walked off the deer came in and cleaned up.

Will the cubes hurt em if they gorge themselves?

The last year I lived in San Angelo in that really bad drought (2011), the deer ran behind the feed truck while I was feeding cows. Also, I worked in the mill for awhile at Angelo Pellet and there is no difference in all the protein feed. Everything from cubes, to creep, to pellets is all the same for all livestock. The only thing I remember being different is the Deer feed got a coffee can scoop of minerals and a scoop of vanilla flavoring per 1 Ton of feed and that was only done with the pen raised deer in mind. And If y’all have worked in one, yall saw what actually goes in the mill lol [emoji102][emoji102][emoji102]
