Skiff remodel
Hesitated to post but considering what we started with I don't think we could screw up any worse than previous guy. Reached out to Michael (brazoshunter) for some tips and we got after it
**no way its gonna be as nice as the skipjack! My son found this gheenoe skiff in Florida while going to school over there and managed to bribe a little money and take some leftover savings to buy it. He fished it most of the year and drug it home for the summer. He had already said he wanted to paint it so I figured what the H. Famous last words... Failed to take a real before pic but this is pretty much it. Poor trailer fit causes some fiberglass issues on the way home so now we're doing some glass work.
Shipping issues have been a HUGE pia despite ordering stuff from the same place We got the paint 1st, then fairing compound and still waiting on primer. Cooled off some today so we mixed some compound to fill previous crappier work     Will sand some and may touch up a few places then prep for primer which should be here tween 21 and 25  Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Those are really cool boats. My friend has a 16' I think with the center console. They fish really well for they're size, and have better than I expected stability. I'll follow this for sure.

Very kewl boat and I'll definitely be following along!!! Before I started my build the Gheenoe 25 was high on the wish list. I still consider parting with Skipjack to get one.

Did a little more fairing work today after some light sanding. I feel like it's enough but probably ain't.
Would be nice to get the freakin primer while the humid is down Amen about the kayak part. Two people can carry the hull easily and the motor is more awkward than heavy Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Sanded a second application of fairing today. Also filled rivet holes from manufacturer badging. There was a previous glass patch on the bow that needed attention. Not sure what we're doing on the inside where paint is gone
Fellow TBHr scott10899 was kind enough to have his wife make some new decals and registration numbers. Can't wait to get to the point they need put on. Primer finally arrived over the holiday. Kinda. Thankfully I ordered a second can cause of the delays.

Not sure how the paint works but I have a pretty decent 3m spray gun you guys are welcome to use. It has interchangeable tips for different viscosities- has always worked well for me

Now all the little imperfections are going to pop out. Total Fair is perfect for those spots but a little on the pricey side. Mine had so many little spots she got the entire hull frosted in it.

Primer took longer than expected to dry so we put it out in the sun and turned it like a giant steak over the weekend
In the mean time we were able to put the new tounge on the trailer. Buying a 20' joint and sending it to galvanize thru a buddy was cheaper than 12 foot at McClain. That led to re setting bunks,adding wire, buying new coupler and putting the winch back on. I had some sheet aluminum laying around and I was never impressed with the plate on the transom so we cut a new one. Gator glide was ordered for the bottom and was supposed to be here on the 27th. Today the owner emailed and let me know the shipment was lost. We're back at day zero or less on that It's sanded and ready for paint once I get some tack cloth to wipe it down What a cluster it's been lately New vs. Old transom plate  Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Had a chance to throw some color at it this morning. Should have burned the instructions away upon opening the box. That or hit the transom and quit and waited for the results.
It looks better than when we started but I feel like some prep work when out the window. Live and learn I guess. Maybe some high grit sanding and the second coat will straighten it up a hair  "Fighting lady yellow" Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Second coat went on yesterday. My son is gone for two weeks working on a ranch as an archery instructor. I'll probably do the gator glide while he's gone so it's ready when he gets back. Days are numbered before it goes back to Florida
