Anybody bought a Tacoma lately?

We are moving to the woods soon and wife is wanted to get rid of her old SUV and get a new Tacoma. She's never owned a truck (and I want a second truck ) so I want to find one before she changes her mind.

They are hard to find...like everything else. Especially if you want a particular package/color.

Are toyota dealers charging higher than MSRP like some other dealerships?

Anybody know how to search all over for available trucks without manually searching each dealership?

Toyota very rarely haggled price before COVID and I imagine if you find one now it would even be harder. I was offered what I paid for it 2 years ago during my last oil change.

I just bought a brand new 2022 TRD Sport.
So I got there before they opened.
Had the salesman check what was on the rail & picked it out from there.
I left them $5k & they called me 6 days later to come grab it.
The truck was $52k!
insane!!!!

ok, so a guy i know traded in a 2016, 4x4 , 4 door truck. 6 cylinder engine with 132,000 miles in January, and he got 22,000 at trade in. ( aransas pass , just north of Corpus christi). he got a silverado with 85,000 miles. v-8. after two months, he traded it in for another tacoma, 2016 with 127,000. paid just over 26,000. Thats guys wife said I was an idiot for ever trading in the old tacoma.
My old truck is listed at 24,000 in corpus christi at a dealership on the south side of town. Carfax, is a good way to look, and they are very hard to find. they get purchased after they hit the lot...

Out the door with the extended warranty.
I went to several other dealers and walked out because they wanted more than MSRP. This one honored it.
I love the truck. So many cool features. The app is too cool.
Did a level kit & taller tires. Rides great!
Tons of Tacoma pages on IG.
I saw a used 2021 with 23k miles for $52k in Austin last week.
It's the wild west out there.

Not a Tacoma but my dad just bought a 2022 4runner in Denton. They charged a $2500 transfer fee because they had to "buy" it from another dealer (otherwise it was msrp). He haggled a bit more and they gave him some additional $400 on his trade in. It still sounded like monkey business but oh well.

I started looking for a Tacoma in February and gave up...You can find them but I don't need one bad enough to pay what they are asking for them.

The new Nissan Frontier is nice too but the few dealerships I have talked to are getting well over MSRP when you factor in the dealer surcharges & upgrades.

Oh trust me, I know. My son is driving his sisters car while she's away at college but I've been looking for a 4Runner or Taco for him. I just can't do it.

I decided I'll probaby give him my Tundra in 2 years when he graduates high school and get myself a new one. Hopefully prices will be better by then.

If this helps...I went from an SUV to a Tacoma in 2019 with the all new everything upgraded and put the nicest camper on the back for more room. I hated that vehicle more than any vehicle I have ever owned. I felt claustrophobic, the back seat was always full, the camper was hard to get in and out of and hard to reach anything, it was hard to drive as it sits low i guess for taller men, I am 5'4" and could not reach the gas peddle. It was a nightmare and as soon as the new 4 Runner TRD Off Road 4x4 came out with all the safety upgrades like the Tacoma I traded it in. I went to Lufkin at Loving Toyota and bought it. Was an easy transaction and not as many add on's as other dealerships I found. Just wanted you to hear my experience before she makes the mistake I made. Good truck mechanically like all the toyotas, as I had 115,000 miles on it with no problems ever.

With the f250 and a taco it's a perfect combo for us

Typically, not always but typically when a dealership has a lot of new vehicles in stock it is because they are either in the middle of no where, or they are charging way over MSRP.

Yes and they finally put a new body style on them. It's a great truck. On my 4th Titan. College Station Nissan has had them on the lot.

Chew, any update on a Tacoma?

My 93 Toyota pickup (manual two door extended cab) just crap the bed. I'm not complaining though, little over 400,000 miles. Inside and out are in great shape. Toyota said it needs a lower intake and a water pump. Heater works too good, ac works just not cooling, dye has been applied and still can't find the problem. All new belts and hoses at the time. Also need a speedometer. Like I said, that truck is a 93 and has over 400,000 on it, it's like loosing an arm or leg. Any Toyota mechanics in the house? Toyota looked, they could not find a lower intake for it at the time. I hate to think what a new motor and install would run, but who knows.
Fred Haas in Spring had one Tacoma on the lot and one Tundra a month ago.

Have you or her spent much time in a Tacoma? They have to be the most uncomfortable truck (seating position wise) I have ever ridden in.

There's a lot of things I liked about the 2019 Tacoma TRD I had but I would agree with this. It honestly was one of the most uncomfortable trucks that I've had. The lack of power was one of my biggest complaints.

I searched for 10 months (April 2021 - Feb. 2022) almost daily before I found the last Tacoma I bought. Don't get me wrong, I found a few during that 10 months that fit the bill of what I thought I wanted, but their price was so inflated.

You and your bride will enjoy it for those uses.

I was finding LWB, TRD's and SR5's 4x4 crew's 2018's and 2019's with less than 40k miles for $37-$40k when I was looking.

Definitely not a good time for sure. Most of the used Tacoma's that I've looked at are too close to the price of a new one. Agree the ride is not the best. I'm trying to decide Tacoma or Tundra. Thanks for the input txtrophy85, I will be making a trip there for sure in the next couple of weeks.

My dad is about to sell a 2011 Tacoma (4WD) with only 9,000 miles on it. Mint condition. He bought it brand new and wrapped it in a vinyl camo wrap (paint is white from factory), and then parked it in our barn at the ranch. It would get driven maybe once a month when we corned roads lol It is honestly a brand new vehicle. He sold the ranch last month and went to get the truck inspected yesterday, because he has been driving it around town lately...said all 5 guys at Christensen Brothers tried to buy it on the spot.

It would also be the absolute worst time for my wife and daughter to break down on i-45 in a piece of shiite car that has five warning lights going off most times. Repairs cost more than the car's worth. Peace of mind is invaluable
