I know there are quiet a few people on here that have hunted with Harry Nel of African Arrow Safaris in the Limpopo RSA.

Harry just sent me info over WhatsApp that he luckily survived an encounter with a wounded Cape Buff. He was tracking and it charged him. Harry said he missed the brain and it got him, gored him and slammed him several times to the ground. Not sure how he survived or what happened to the Buff, but Harry did get some broken ribs and some stitches to sew him back up where he was gored. He was in good spirits and very lucky for sure.

Please send some prayers up for a fast recovery for Harry!

Prayers for a speedy recovery. I know that 2 trained Professional Hunters are required to guide a hunter going after a Cape Buffalo in SA. I wonder where the other guide was?

UPDATE!

I talked to Harry and from what he told me on whatsapp, a bowhunter shot a Cape, he decided to track him for a short distance to see what the bloodtrail told him when this bull surprised him at 5 yards with a charge. Harry got a shot off, but missed the brain. According to Harry the hunter said the bull tossed Harry in the air about 11 times before pounding him into the ground and leaving. Harry was taken by helicopter out of the field to probably Lephalale for treatment. Another helicopter was brought into locate the bull. He was found and directed into an opening where the bowhunter dispatcher him with Harry's rifle.

Harry suffered a busted up knee that required surgery, broken ribs and lacerations that required a lot of stitches, BUT he survived a Buff encounter and lived to tell about it.

Not many survive a Buff charge and encounter, Harry is one of the lucky ones and he said so! He is in recovery and it will take a while but he will be back.

Not sure how I would have reacted if that had been me in that situation, I do not think anyone would know how they would react.
