Found a job on their site I'm condsidering applying for. They have a 6 year requirement in a similar role. I have 5 years and 7 months. That a deal breaker?

I worked with them 15+ years ago. They hosted our disaster recovery system in San Angelo when I worked in the IT world. Couldnt tell you anything else.

I worked for them many moons ago and they were a very good company to work for back then. Recently (two years ago) I worked with some NG employees and they had no complaints about their company.

I worked for NG a long time ago and as others have said, no complaints. Just apply and see what happens. I would be surprised if the six year requirement is a hard requirement.

DoD contractors hold tight to their requirements. They do this for audits from the government. If the years experience you are speaking to is a requirement you will likely be screened out by the recruiter. If it is listed as a desired skill you would likely be good. That said, if you have other professional experience in different areas that brings your years of experience up to or beyond the required minimum you will probably get a hard look by the recruiter and maybe make it through screening. Apply and see what happens! You won't get a call back if you don't apply.

I worked for NG for 9 years before having to leave due to loss of government contract. it was a great company to work for, great benefits, and they use to have a separate retirement-pension for each employee, but sadly they don't have it any longer. I was lucky enough to be one of the last who was vested and will started collecting my pension from them at 65

Glad I looked at Linked In...I have an acct but really don't do social media other than TBH. Turns out one of the bullpen pitchers from Northwestern OK St U that I played with worked for a company that NG bought a few years back. So I reached out and he got my resume in the hands of the talent advisor and the hiring manager. Already got the pre-screening questions. The ball is rolling!

2nd interview was Wednesday. Guessing I didn't scare em off, got a 3rd interview next Tuesday in person to see their office and meet the team.

I've never been on a third interview lol.

I’m getting close to retiring from Collins Aerospace (part of Raytheon Technologies) and got lucky with references from prior engineers from there. One interview and hired. Networking is a good way to get a foot in for sure.

If it's filled by the other person, don't let your heart drop. Sometimes they find voids in other positions to fill. Or create new jobs to retain talent. Big companies are like that sometimes.


Example: my youngest child, who hasn't graduated collage, yet, was narrowed down against someone with a PhD in Marketing, at his current job. My boy has a lot of experience in corporate training programs and development. The company hired them both: the PhD to fill the position. And my son as an associate for that position. But heading up Media Development for the Marketing team. He works directly with the VP for marketing in visual media development for training for employees, and commercials for the public.
