Made a quick trip to the lease to fill feeders and move a stand. I guess we had a good mosquito hatch after not having rain for so long as if I got close to cedar tree or bushes that blocked the wind I was covered in them. Saw and heard a few turkeys gobbling but not much for them to eat or much reason for them to move. All the broom weed or whatever it is from last years heavy rain year is brown but everything else is starting to green up. The mesquite trees sure do green and bounce back fast. The dust wasnít bad from the recent rain thank goodness. Hopefully we can get some more timely rain soon and see some good angler growth.

Just got back from a buddies place NE of Sonora, DRY DRY and oh, did I say dry!! Water troughs were taking a beating each day. I've been going to this ranch for 40 years and have never seen it this dry. Where others have had a sprinkle, an inch or more, this place has had a bubble over it, very sad!! Gobblers were roosting 200 hundreds yards from the house. They were gobbling about 30 minutes before dark, roost and gobble for another half hour. Gobble some before fly down and then about 30 minutes after fly down. Some hens were together (not many) but most were nesting and seeing them in singles. Saw a group of hens and gobblers feeding together as well(8). Water was where the party was for the wildlife. Rattlesnakes were out as well this weekend. They were hanging out right off of a trail in the cedars (close-so be aware) leading to the hunter's feed pens. I'm assuming mice and birds were on the menu. The rattling was loud and clear The cedars are getting hammered by the goats that are on the place (no shortage). Pray for rain!!

No rain to speak of in sight in the 15 day forecast! Looks like I need to get my truck detailed again!!!!!!

Very thankful for the rain we did get, but praying hard for more. We will soon be in the same boat as before (or worse) if we donít get some more rain here and there!!!

We are under that bubble too. Itís BAD! I donít think we have had a total of an inch since October. just as bad if not worse than the big drought of 2011.

We are between Sonora and Roosevelt, north of I10. We actually got a little rain on the west side of the ranch and its starting to green up just a bit, the east side is still dry as a bone.

There was a good storm thru the area last night. Of course, it went south, then east and north of me. I barely got a sprinkle.

Appears we got another real good rain off 189! I watched the radar all night lol. Blew through quick but appeared to be a solid rain maker. Planning on going this weekend. Any sign of axis kicking off rut yet and getting vocal? Should be anytime now

Very little sign on our place this weekend, but are seeing the bucks starting to disperse as they’re becoming hard horned.

Our place is GREEEEEEN. Answered prayers there. Animals pulled off the feed for better food. Can’t blame em. No axis heard. Turkeys were still gobbling. Had 4 gobblers responding and 2 coming in on a string. Was trying to call em in for a guys 10 year old daughter. It didn’t work out but they had fun! Had em right in our lap just wouldn’t come out of the brush. Great time was had. Hoping the green up wasn’t too late and they’ll put on some inches this year. Sort em out in august or September abd see if there’s a candidate for a bullet!

One of the guys sons shot a heck of a boar and it was his birthday! I’d post a pic but I didn’t ask permission to do so yet. I’ll ask and post up if it’s ok.

We needed the rain thatís for sure! Those deer will always find a way to make things difficult but like you said you really canít blame them. Itís going to be fun stalking around our place to see if we can get into the axis. Definitely my favorite way to hunt them.

Fire off of intersection (aprox 2 mile East of intersection) FM 864 and FM 2597 leading to Ft McKavett. Eldorado and Sonora FD volunteers out there. I'm sure by now more volunteer departments as well. Buddy sent pictures at 6:25pm. Just a heads up if you have property/lease out this way! The pictures do not show any structures, too far off of the road and tree's blocking view, but a lot of smoke.

It was so sporadic throughout Sutton County, places 1/4 mile apart got vastly different totals. Iíve heard anywhere from .3 - 1.75 inches

Well dang it. I canít complain we have gotten more rain than others around us but always need more. I went out to pick up a stand in Mason and that ranch was dry as I have ever seen.
