Default 2022 Salty H20 Thread.... Let's go! Part 1

Let's get the new year kicked off right by being a little Salty! And say a big prayer we won't see the devastating cold temperatures we saw in 2021!

I'm already excited as I'll have a boat this year, and if work will slow down a touch maybe I can get a little more time in on the water!

Looks like we'll have some new regulations from our boys in Austin. Some I agree with, and others I don't. But that's an argument for another day.

I want to thank our big contributions like Captain Glenn for always keeping us informed on our ever evolving fishing world and changes.

I'm looking forward to days like the picture below....

I’m pretty mad at the fish, we’ll be on the water considerably more this year. Regs won’t matter much for us, we typically keep what we can eat that day. Our freezer rarely sees a fillet from the saltwater.

I'm certainly looking forward to fishing 2022, I just picked up my first bay boat last week. I'm planning on hitting Matty and POC as much as my schedule will allow. Big thanks to Capt. Glenn for answering all my questions along the way.

I'll be out there as much as I can. I've had covid all week and still went once, felt like crap but I still went. Hope everybody has a good year out on the water.

Was hoping to get a wade in this morning when I got off work. Couldn’t get myself to stay awake.

Hoping to fish at least 100 days this year. Slacked last year running dogs, but hoping to do more of both this year.

Good luck all your salty anglers.

One more weekend to kill our last two does, then I turn all my outdoors interest to fishing the coast, or chasing crappie at least until Turkey Season!

Finally got a gig in town and the lake is 10 minutes from my house.

Trying to talk my wife into a Sea Hunt ultra. Wish me luck the boat show is in less than 30 days.

My last trip (yesterday) of year wasnít salt, but close enough to coast to count !

Me and my best buddy Kelly (aironeout), childhood friends , all star baseball team, junior golfers , state champs , college roommates , weddings , kids, kind of friend.

Anyway we got Covid for the day and chose to chase crappie on coleto instead of trout and reds.

Kelly has mastered his electronics and spot lock trolling motors and sinking offshore brush piles into a true art. 100% articials on lakes folks say are fished out / donít have fish.

21 keepers and only 1 throw back. These were some fat girls slabs.

Nice haul Gary, I grew up fishing Texana, Colleto and Fayette County. They're not what they once were but good to see they can still produce fish. Sadly Texana will never return to her glory days.

Went with kid to PINS. Surf was clear and flat. Caught pompís for about 2 hours then the wind and surf kicked up and we caught reds and small sharks. Lots of spinners breaching out past 3rd. Good day on the sand. Kept some pompís and stingray wings for tonight

I'll probably go fishing this year too.

Looking forward to another great year and looking forward to fishing with a bunch of TBH'ers again this year. I will say that the guys and ladies off TBH who have fished with me have all been really good folks, every single one. It's pretty amazing. Looking forward to meeting and fishing with some more folks from the TBH community.

Looking forward to more time on the water this year. A little bitter/sweet for the upcoming year. My best fishing buddy (youngest son) graduated from college. He told me, "Dad I guess I need to find a job" (even though he worked full time while going to college full time). I told him don't get a "job" make what your passionate about your living. He responded my passion is "salt water, boats, and fishing". I told him that is a big industry for a business major starting out....

He is now employed full time on salary for one of the best private offshore boats in the gulf. He will now spend his time maintaining the boat and fishing offshore tournaments throughout the year. I am proud and excited for him, but will sure miss fishing with him most every weekend in LM and Baffin.

It is funny how life goes. I taught him to fish in the beginning, now he teaches me more about fishing than I could ever imagine. Gonna miss my regular fishing buddy.

Hope all have a great 2022 on the water and I hope to meet and fish with some you one day.

Good for your son! I wish my dad had told me that. I had to come to that conclusion on my own. Fishing was the only thing I was truly passionate about from an early age. I could sit and catch perch in a city bayou from sunup to sundown and be ready to do it all over again the very next day. I'm going on 26 years in the fishing industry and am truly blessed that I can make a living doing what doesn't seem like work to me every day.

That is exactly what I told him. Find something your passionate about as your profession and you will look back 30 years from now and say, "I cant believe I get paid to do this".

I have recently become retired and am very much looking forward to doing some fishing in the salt. I gave myself a retirement gift - a $25000 repower and such on my 1996 22' Predator. Getting a 200 Suzuki, Bob's jack plate, trolling motor, Garmin GPS, battery tender, batteries and all new tires on the trailer. The rig should be good to go! Have the RV parked in Matagorda right next to a boat ramp. I'm excited to say the least.

Congrats to your Son & Good Luck to him!
