Make it fun for the kids! Hotdogs on a stick over the campfire is as good as it gets for kids!

      Camping trip Meals?

      "Let Us Wraps"

We make them on the fire disc when we camp but can cook them on anything, skillet, whatever.

Cook up about a pound of meat, dice up the meat. We have tried all kinds of stuff and really prefer pork. We get the HEB pre seasoned stuff--it's basically seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic. Make sure you cook the meat in plenty of butter!!

Before the meat is browned add about a cup of diced onion, cup diced red-green-yellow bell peppers, two little cans of diced water chestnuts, half cup cilantro, and a bottle of stir fry sauce. We get a "Saigon Sizzle" sauce at HEB, has a little kick to it.

Cook it all up!! Let it simmer for 10 minutes or so. You want the onions and peppers to stay a little crispy, so don't over cook.

We've added ride before but not when using the disc.

Buy the green leaf lettuce that's already separated into little sections, ready for wrapping!!

Can't remember what to call it but the foil packs cooked under coals was always one of my favorites when we would burn the brush piles. It had a big hamburger pattie seasoned with chopped potatoes, onions and peppers of choice.

We called these "camp burgers" growing up. We would put carrots in ours with the potatoes and onions.

Roasting wieners over a fire for hot dogs was always fun.

We did something similar this summer: Campfire Patty Melts. They were great!

You need one of these. You can cook anything on it that you can cook at home.

                        Chicken fajita foil packs

Marinate chicken in Italian dressing and seasoning in gallon bag
Cut up jalapeƱos and onions and put in gallon bag with a dash of olive oil and some seasoning
Cut up red potatoes and put olive oil, garlic, and seasonings in gallon bag

Bring heavy duty foil and double layer, put down potatoes first, then veggies, then chicken. Wrap it up and put it on the coals for like 7 minutes per side. Serve on tortilla with cheese and hot sauce.

We call it hobo meals. When our boys were young they loved doing this. Hb patty, potatoe, carriers. Wrap tightly with hd aluminum foil cook in a hot bed of coals. Deer chili is good too for camp meals.
