Has anyone built their own side by side?

People build rock crawlers and other custom jobs, so why not a sxs? I don’t have much free time right now but constructing things out of aluminum and steel is fun. Wish my friend was still alive that owned his own machine shop. That dude was awesome at machining parts old school and he made it all look easy.

I had a freind build one. He used a Harley motor & Suzuki Sami front & rear axles. That all I remember about the build other than it was basically unstoppable, it would go anywhere!!!

      Funny you should ask.

Stopped by my buddy's today. His dad Jerry lives next door.

Well.... Jerry comes pulling up on this! Said he built it in his shop last winter. Needed something to tinker on!

Jerry turned 80 years old this summer!

I rode in it. He chopped a kaw bayou 300 4x4 and stretched it. Skinned w swimming pool liner. Hand gear shift.

Actually pretty **** cool, lol. This man can build anything. His shop looks like a science fair.

No but I have a 3010 05 diesel that motor was beyond repair...Replace motor with a Briggs and S commercial Vanguard 23 hp air cooled. Its about the same HP .Speed about same way quieter...Been Happy so far .I would think diesel weighed 300+ Vanguard 77+ quite a weight loss.

            Sounds like a solid upgrade.
