                        He may have a different reason, but I’ve been told they do that because the gloss is a harder finish. It just adds a little more protection.

                            Bisch you are spot on. I want a good tuff finish which the gloss does. The satin coat is just a very light coat so it won't be so shiny for hunting. If it was strictly for target shooting I would just leave it glossy.
