Frijoles a la Charra (Charro Beans)

    Ingredients:
    5 lbs Pinto beans
    15 Jalapeno peppers
    6 Tomatoes
    2 medium onions
    24 Hot-dogs
    2 lbs Chorizo
    2 lbs Bacon
    1 bundle of Cilantro

    Directions:
    1) Put beans in a pot with enough water to cover beans and still have room for the rest of the ingredients, add salt to taste, cover and cook over medium heat.
    2) Cut bacon and hot-dogs into 1/4" chunks.
    3) Fry the bacon, chorizo and hot-dogs together, then remove grease.
    4) Dice jalapenos, tomatoes, onions and cilantro.
    5) When beans start to feel soft to the touch, add all remaining ingredients into the pot and cook for about 20 minutes or until beans are cooked to your liking.

Last Christmas my boyfriends mom taught me how to make tamales, I helped her make the carne tamales but went to the ranch with the boys while she made the bean and cheese tamales. Later that night I asked her how many cans of beans she used. She replied, "CANS!!!!????" I was un aware people actually made beans and didnt just buy them. My boyfriend's entire family got a good laugh out of my whiteness. Ever since that weekend I have made all my refried beans, I haven't made charro beans yet but i'll try out this recipe next weekend =D
