Posted a thread a few days ago about public hunting around Elk Lake just outside Independence, KS. No responses so I'm trying one more time. Does anyone know about or hunt in this area? It's located in Unit 12.

I grew up in that area , but have never hunted it . There are good dear all around that area and the fishing is great on The Lake . . . There is a lot of Public Land surrounding The Lake area . I would contact The Ranger who works the area . I know of a Great Place that runs Hunts in that area that we go back and fish their lands he runs hunting operations on , but don't know if he would know much about the walk in areas .
