Got a small window to do a road trip in late July, where would you go?
Can pull camper for short trip or no camper for longer distances.

I'm about as coastal as you can get but by the end of July 5 days in the mountains usually hits the spot. Taos/red river is a pretty easy trip from Austin if your kids travel well.

As much as I just sweated in the last hour from just being outside I'd go somewhere cool.
Lots of shade and water.

Ruidoso New Mexico is an easy drive. We’ve been several times and enjoyed the cooler weather to get away from the July Texas heat.

Leadville Colorado. It will be in the 40's every morning and get up to 75 during the day. Lots of fishing, hiking and Aspen is just across the pass.
