My wife of 31 years has always enjoyed me going and taking our sons into the great outdoors / sporting events etc... she loves her alone time as much as I enjoy mine when she goes off with her friends Or the kids.. No one should sacrifice who they are for anyone, after all isn't that partly what attracted them to one another?

It may not be a sacrifice. Seasons and stages of life change. Hobbies and interests also change no matter how deep you think the roots and traditions run...just a suggestion... I know this has happened to men and women I know. It was NOT due to control or such. Just something positive to add..

And he aint coming back to reality. My brother used to hunt, fish and was a joy to be around. Then he got married. It slowed to just fishing cause she wont eat wild game (knowingly). Then they had a kid and it all but quit. Hes got a boat that hasnt seen water for 10 years, guns with no bullets and even guns at my dads house hes forgotten about.

AND, his wife is a cee you next tuesday and their son is gonna end up on dateline before he makes 40. But hey, Im a bad parent cause I let my kid watch TV and play shoot em up games on the x-box. Now hes a delinquent with an out of state scholarship for academics and the shooting team with his own boat

Same here. I like it but while she enjoys all that stuff I still get stuck with the bill for everything. My hunting costs doubled when we got married but I guess it could be worse. Like OP’s friend.

Yes a happy wife does make life easier, but it doesn't make you happy.

I know several people who live to make their woman happy, and I can tell you they aint happy.

Make sure you let him know that his wife is welcome to join the hunting group. Once she gets to know you, hopefully she'll either 1)love to join or 2)be comfortable knowing he is with a good group and she doesn't have to worry when he is with yall.

I killed a buck on our anniversary last year and my wife road with me to the processor that evening as our anniversary celebration!

I love my wife way more than hunting & killing stuff but if she demanded I stop I imagine I would laugh at her for being silly. She probably wants me in the brush at times but isn’t fond of me hunting in Mexico. In high school I had a few girlfriends that I ghosted during the holidays to hunt. I bet they paid me back Having babies can throw curveballs at your schedule in the brush. Age and all kinds of factors come into play. 20 years is a good chunk of time to hunt with somebody. Sounds to me like he will be back soon

I get wanting a family / hunting balance. Hunting brings me enjoyment, but so do a lot of other things such as family time and other hobbies. What's the point in being in a relationship if you're never around. Gotta balance that ****.
