Another Henderson County find. Son found the shell casing a foot or so away. Maybe this point killed the guy shooting the gun!

Atlatl point. Likely used as a knife . Once on a dart it could be a knife or socketed and thrown. That one is large for the type. Love it

Most likely Caddo or Cherokee. There is a historic marker somewhere across the hwy. from Tractor Supply in Henderson that has a lot of information on it. The marker used to be across the street from my grandparents' house when I was a kid. I don't recall which tribe but was one of the above. I'll try and locate it and let you know.

Found these this morning and they are the first artifacts I’ve ever found. It’s our first year on this lease in Webb county and I am excited to find some more. Any info y’all could provide would be appreciated since I am brand new to this. Found the two points and the tool on the right in about a 20’ circle. [IMG]

It’s a miracle I noticed it. There was a thousand other stones in the sifter the same size and that groove caught my eye. This is my third sinker but first in hill country terrain. I’m not sure if the fossil is a fern or a refer plant😬 |

Found a second broken arrowhead here in Brown county.
Both found near an 1800’s long gone homesite. Anybody ever find multiple points that might have been Found before and brought to the old house by the settlers? Near the Comanche county line. Thanks BP |

We believe the white one in center is a knife as with bottom second from left which is a very thin one at that and looks to have a groove for the handle with a forward stop. Info would be great! Was told Archaic but someone else called it something else so....

Better pics needed of the white one with groove and tge broke up red one beside it. Good focused pics of both sides would help.

I think you are right. Learn something new every day.
It might of been used as a sinker. Makes it super cool... Last edited by Johnny Dangerr; 06-14-2022 at 08:48 AM. |

Hey Thanx GarGuy for the ID was really surprised the two you wanted to see I thought others were more interesting but I'm def no pro at darts! After hearing that red one might have been in a fire we immediately did a smudging in the entire house and all of our artifacts!! We've got the Stone Artifacts of Texas Indians book and it's helping a lot but def a lot to be learned!! Erica joined the Artifacts.com yesterday too!!

So if it was in a fire does this mean it was a burial item? If yes then I assume I should put it back is there anything I need to do beside place it back where we found it?

Nothing burial there. Artifacts got fire damage many ways ranging from being discarded into a fire to forest fires, cooked in meat, etc. You have a nice archaic site. Go find some more! |
