    Duramax delete?

First off I am NO MECHANIC. Now that that's out of the way i am curious to hear opinions preferably educated ones on what I should do.

I have a 2016 duramax that I bought brand new and now has less than 25k miles and is paid for. I keep trucks a long time and this one is going to be no different. I've been told that if I plan on deleting the truck I should do it early instead of waiting to hit high mileage. I do not plan to go crazy with high performance tuners or anything of that nature. This is my daily driver that I occasionally pull my camper with.

Advice, delete and void warranty but have a "better running more fuel efficient truck" or ride out the warranty and delete later?

I am glad to see this thread, as I was just thinking of starting one seeking advice on the tuning of my truck as well. I have a 2015 Duramax with just under 50,000 miles that I have chosen to keep stock in order to keep the warranty intact, but I have had zero problems with the truck and have decided that I want to step out and make some changes for the better.

I am no diesel mechanic either, and I am looking to have the work done by someone in the Houston area. I will be going with a delete package and I am considering the following additional upgrades:

          Ez Lynk with switch
          4" flo-pro Exhaust
          Er block plates
          Fass 95 titanium lift pump.

Any input by knowledgeable guys here is appreciated, especially concerning the choice of a good company or individual to do the tuning work on my Duramax.

If the new ones are anything like my 09 was you'll need a liftpump.

Eventually you'll hammer on it and blow the doors off some dude in a mid life crisis convertible benz trying to go all indy car thus causing him to say your truck is #1 over the windshield.

Then you'll do it every time the temperature drops. Then the fuel line will start to collapse easier from the motor sucking so much fuel and it will cause low fuel pressure code and go into limp mode.

Times like those are when I miss my dirtyjap.

Recs on Houston north side would be that fella out in Waller or friend of the OL here in magnolia

because they are not what they used to be 15 years ago. main reason is DEF fluid, you will get increased fuel mileage and HP, with no smoke, or diesel smell.

I have a 2013 Duramax 1ton. Was getting all kinds of DEF issues. DEF heater failed, DEF pump failed. Dealership didn't want to warranty the work on the truck so I deleted it and added PPEI EFI live. Kind of expensive up front but haven't had any more trouble.

Vote for delete. You don't technically have to void any warranty. If something breaks, just return everything to stock, flash ALL computers on your truck (Not just the ECU), and you are good to go...the reason dealers know if you deleted is because folks don't re flash all computers, just the ECU.

And after the delete, it will smell like diesel, smoke, and be louder. But still worth it. I drive with my back window open on my truck all the time, and the smell has never made it into the cab.

My story is word for word as the OP but a 09 with 100K miles. Will it make my truck any louder? Any recommendations for a mechanic around DFW? is I delete would a dealership take your truck in trade if you decide to trade?

Hope I'm not high jacking if so let me know OP.
