Next weekend is the archery deer hunting opener, so let's assume we get an opportunity and make sure we can pick a good spot to place a deadly shot -- in the Deadly V.
Print out my drawing below or make your own to show the V formed by a broadside deer's upper leg bone and scapula or shoulder blade, with a small dot in the middle of the V as the target. Shoot a day's first arrow at the spot from any stance at 13 yards (7 for kids). Up to three days' tries allowed. Earliest day's best shot is tie-breaker (A Day 2 shot beats same distance shot someone else made on their Day 3 shot.)
Measure closest part of shaft to center of dot in the V. Lowest distance wins next week's call.
Good luck on the challenge and hunting!
