Well I can say that I have never had this happen to me. I've probably approached a solid 30-40 farmers about hunting those pesky deer only to be told to hit the road. Today I was scouting some public land that backs up to a farm. The public access road sucked and I had my truck locked in 4wd just to get back out of there. An older gentleman, who I assumed was about to give me trouble, flagged me down in the middle of the road.
Basically, he asked me if I was out there to dump trash, and I explained to him that I was scouting this public land. He then proceeded to tell me how he had several deer passing through his place and wouldn't mind if I hunted there to cull them, so long as I didn't rut up his property and I didn't shoot towards his barn, cattle, or house.
This has never ever happened to me. I feel like I just won the lottery.
