This should be a crazy adventure. I know of a guy that killed a smallish polar bear with a bow. He tried to turn the bear down but the bear wouldn't take no for an answer

Good luck Doc!
See if they Inuit have any maktak or walrus to try when you are there. The boots are pretty cool. I imagine it will be the ones with the air layer in the soles. And if you rid a snow mobile make sure everything is covered. I had a piece of my nose exposed in barrow. And I almost lost a chunk of skin on my nose that froze.

That area is unlike anywhere you have been. And hard to believe the ice is probably 10 ft thick or thicker in places

Good skilling MrMay.
Im really interested to hear how all your gear works in those temps…what goes right (hopefully everything) and what goes wrong (hopefully nothing) with those conditions.

The slaying approacheth.

That's boots, bids and parka. Is that enough to stay warm? I have no idea! I will at least take off the parka, goggles and any thick face covering to shoot. Also, will take off heavy gloves and just wear liners to shoot. I bought two new releases that are bigger to allow for better fit with gloves on(ultra view large releases vs medium). They did have a bowhunter 2 years ago that was hunting muskox. Apparently he took his gloves off to shoot but it took a while to get the shot. He got frostbite and lost 3 fingers. I am also taking a sleeping bag that is rated to -40. It's a beast!!!!!!
Congrats on taking the next step Doc! I had a conversation with the Kanati folks this year also concerning replica's. This crazy USFWS mess concerning importation of Polar Bears is downright embarrassing. YES, the stick-on large hand warmers are worth their weight in gold. Oh, they also make some they call lap warmers (i think 18x18) that I had in Saskatchewan. The Inuit outer layer is legit from talking to a couple of folks that have done the trip. Enjoy the adventure, protect those fingers, and shoot straight as the dogs will have that bear peeved off!!!

I'm curious how you use the bathroom in those conditions. More wondering about #2 than #1, especially if nature calls when you're away from camp.

I am not 100% sure on that. On the ol #1 I am not sure there will be much exposure with those temps if you know what I mean. #2 you better be **** ready when the time comes. You won't be sitting there reading a magazine or scrolling through your phone!!!!

As much as anyone would hate to ask that should probably be question #1. I **** sure cannot afford giving/losing any of my ding a ling nor do I want to **** myself shedding 12 layers of clothing. I am certain there is a learned art to both that only a local can share.

Crazy part is I am certain you need to consume a substantial amount of water in that climate to stay hydrated but the result sucks. I am interested to hear what you learn as strange as that sounds.
