I leave Amarillo at 0630 on Tuesday after working a full day and being on call. I think I fly to Dallas, then Newark and on to Ottawa Canada. I get there in the early evening and spend the night. The next day I fly to resolute bay and spend the night. The next day on to Grise fiord and I believe it is immediately out on the ice! I am hunting with the Inuits and the outfitter is Ameri-Kana. Accommodations during the hunt are wall tent or plywood cabin. That replica is +/- $15,000.

So stoked for you doc.. Cant wait to follow along..

One little idea I had just as just a insurance policy, if you have time.. Fletch a couple arrows up with some AAE hybrid 26 vanes.. They are the same vane as the max stealth but made of a different material, they are softer. That way if that harder max material turns brittle like the TAC you will have a couple arrows with vanes..

I did a little arrow experiment the other day. Mainly testing the nocks but everything worked. Of course it will be colder where I am going!

I have done two brown bear hunts. The first one I was 15 yards from a great bear and at full draw. Never released the arrow. And I was within 50 yards of several others with no shot. On my second I had smaller bears in bow range and even a good one under 10 yards with no shot. I started to feel pressure and killed one with a gun. Still regret that decision as I had 2-3 days left to hunt.

Excited for you and looking forward to the recap of this adventure

Do you have enough clothes to stay warm?
Can you shoot your bow with all of them on?
You have any plans to write a book about your hunting adventures?

You are definitely going to be in places few humans have ever set foot in

Layers!!!! I am not taking any of the heated stuff. Won't be able to charge it after we head out. No power for at least 10 days or until bear is killed. I have a bunch of hand and foot warmers. I will wear a light wool base layer, heavy wool layer, vest, puffy coat and then bids and parka over the top. The Inuit community gives you some arctic clothing to wear as an outer layer. That's boots, bids and parka. Is that enough to stay warm? I have no idea! I will at least take off the parka, goggles and any thick face covering to shoot. Also, will take off heavy gloves and just wear liners to shoot. I bought two new releases that are bigger to allow for better fit with gloves on(ultra view large releases vs medium). They did have a bowhunter 2 years ago that was hunting muskox. Apparently he took his gloves off to shoot but it took a while to get the shot. He got frostbite and lost 3 fingers. I am also taking a sleeping bag that is rated to -40. It's a beast!!!!!!

I have not. Thought about it but haven't. I also have some concern about my arrow rests. But, I'm shooting hamskea limb driven rests. I figure that inertia from the limb recoil will make them work. I may throw the releases in the freezer today. Although, they will likely be in my pocket until the shot. Hopefully that helps.

My only issue with your gear, what are you taking with you to make sure you are able to give us continuous updates. 10 days once you get there is too long for us to wait!
