Default Tangent Theta - anyone spent much time behind one?

In the middle of a new mountain rifle build for my Fannin hunt. Ordered a Tangent Theta long range hunter and can’t find a ton of reviews. Looks like the stock is delayed even further (delaying my build completion) and my scope shipped today. I was hoping to have the rifle build complete before the scope arrived but no dice.

Just wondering if anyone here has spent any time behind one.

Let me guess. Manners? Lol

I haven’t looked through that particular scope, but have checked out a few Tangents and they are bad@ss scopes. I’m not sure I could justify the jump in price over a Mark 5 or ATACR, but they are super nice.

From what I can find online, the reticle options kinda suck on that LRH model.

I’ve spent some time behind one. The bang for the buck isn’t there for me. It doesn’t do anything, look better, track better, have clearer glass, or pretty much outclass other high-end scopes. I’ve got Swaro, Zeiss, Meopta, S&B, Leica, NF, and high end Leupold ahead of them on my preference list. Not to pee in your cheerios if you love it, but I couldn’t find the extra value in it for the $. I listed it for sale & had it sold in an hour though, so there is a market.

Heading up to hunt in the Yukon. Taking my son to let him kill a mountain caribou while we are there (I hope). He will be turning 15 right at the time of the hunt so it should be a great adventure for us to share.

Unless I draw a desert tag between now and then…..this will be my second leg of my sheep slam.

I have a Rifles Inc Lightweight Strata w/ a Swaro Z5 3.5-18 and its greatness. I use it as my full-time hunting rifle, mountains or not. I purchased off gun broker for 1/2 of retail, but that was back in 2012 ish.

I really love the Z5. I have the BT and you just dial it in. At that point, the rifle and scope do its job, you just have to do yours.

No experience with Theta.

I remember your CO bighorn. Opting to substitute the fan in for a stone or going for all 5 sheep? Mountain caribou, one incredible birthday present! Best of luck to the both of you!

Subbing it for the Stone as of now. I just can’t justify the cost of a BC Stone hunt with a good outfitter. They jumped in a big way.

I’ll do the entire hunt (tags, all airfare, tips, everything) with my son with both of us killing caribou and me killing a Fannin for less than the sheet rate for a stone hunt at any of my preferred Stone outfits.

Which model did you spend time with? The 315 Long Range Hunter?

Shouldn’t you ask for reviews before you buy?
