Well 40 man roster is not major league roster, and not sure how losing 2 pitchers makes room for Yuli on 26 man major league roster? I hope he is and plays great

I guess we’ll see by opening day. He’ll be added to the 40 man and the major roster once a spot is cleared. Until then they could only sign him to a minor league contract.

The Marlins suck, don’t know how he could not make the roster, but no one else wanted him. He has a home in Miami, so I’m sure he preferred Marlins after Astros

Agreed. My point was that his signing a minor league deal was just a technicality. He will 100% be on the opening day roster.

Nice! My son and family have been there a few days and are leaving tomorrow. Practice was closed this morning for some reason. My friend is also there. He has gone for 21 years in a row and said this is first time practice has been closed to the public? Did y’all bring mlb balls to try and get signed? Gates to practice facility should open at 9:30 tomorrow morning and you should be able to get autographs if interested. Balls can be bought at Rawlings store in West Palm if needed. Thank you Billy that’s great info. I did bring two official baseballs. We just arrived in West Palm beach after spending a few days with my dad on the gulf coast. I was just looking online for the information and you are confirming what I read. Hopefully they will be practicing. We are going to 2 games here. I keep thinking it would have been better if the WBC wasn’t going, but that gives us a reason to come back. Not that I needed one lol.

That’s true, but injuries happen in spring training too. Sure hope he can recover quickly.

According to Bob Nightengale from around 2 hours ago, it’s broke and he’s expected to miss 8-10 weeks.

I'm glad the ''old Cuban'' got a spot. Baseball is a fickle game, he was one year removed from a batting title and a Gold Glove and struggled to find a team. I hope he has a great year.

Thanks. His agent is just short of worthless. Zero strikeouts in 2019 World Series, 2021 he received the American League batting title and a golden glove, 48 plate appearances last post season without striking out…

Final roster is set with a couple surprises
Korey Lee sent to AAA so he can catch everyday. Diaz and Salazar both make the team as backup catchers. They can both also play left field and first base. Corey Julks makes team as reserve outfielder over Dirden. Seth Martinez and Ronel Blanco get the last two bullpen spots. A lot will change once Altuve and Brantley get back. Looks like Dubon and Hensley will hold down 2nd base for awhile. Feel sure the supposed better defender Dubon will start opening day with ground ball pitcher Valdez on the mound.

No McCormick in starting lineup. Alvarez in left, Meyers in center, and Diaz dh. Diaz does have 2 homers and 7 rbi in last two games

Hope I am wrong. But, I have a bad feeling about the Astros this season. For some reason I keep thinking the Blue Jays and the Mariners will have really good seasons. It really is a downer not seeing Yuli with the team.

I think Houston has plenty to run off and hide with it this year. I agree though that we will miss yuli, especially his defense.

Did you watch any of the spring games? We definitely downgraded at defense at first. Hopefully new Cuban’s offense makes it worth it, he’s no spring chicken himself though.
