Those paint/camo jobs sure are impressive, they look outstanding!

I just believe in the old battleship paint theory; big blocks just to break up outline.

Krylon and Rust-Oleum both have a version. It can be ordered online also. Home Depot/Lowes probably won't carry it as it's more of a decorating thing than it is regular paint.

Unfortunately, I did not think to gets pics of the tape job. Good idea, I should have.

As for the detail that went into it, I ended up cutting down strips of tape to fit particular areas when a larger piece was going to be too big.

Take the zoom dial of the scope for example. In the one close up pic of the rear of the scope (taken from the left side of the gun), if you look close, only the numbers and the raised block of the dial are not painted. I used blue painters tape and cut a strip 3/16" wide and about 4" long. then carefully wrapped that around the numbers. The raised block was a piece of tape that was placed, and then cut back to where I wanted it to end.

I even cut a small piece to cover over the "NIKON" on the scope. Just because I wanted to leave the name there. The serial number on the bottom of the scope was also covered over with tape.

Most of the rest of the taped-up areas were just covered over until no metal was showing anymore. The trigger itself was completely wrapped up about 3 times. Even wrapped the safety!
I noticed all the details that you mentioned, I was just curious on how the tape job was done, pre-cut and place on the gun or place on the gun and carefully cut with a razor. I did not go into that much details with my shotguns because they were going to get thrown around in a boat or kayak and get muddy and also to protect from salt water when I went goose hunting on the coast. Again, Well Done.

                        Thanks!

I'm thinking about maybe spraying the bi-pod...but I do switch it out from one rifle to another from time to time. Would look odd when on my others with the wood stocks. But then I think the bi-pod fits more with the use of this rifle than the others.

                        Decisions...

Besides cleaning any oil off, Did you need to lightly buff any of the components with Emory cloth steel wool before applying?
                              That looks great!

I tried some steel wool, but it didn’t seem to do much. I did use a red scotch brite pad to scuff things up. I didn’t spend a lot of time on that part though. Time will tell how long it holds up. But it would be easy enough to touch up if need be.
