Kicking this back up, I went with the Nikon Coolpix P1000 & think it will be a good bridge camera for her. She can point and shoot without having to carry multiple lenses and has more zoom than she'll ever need, if she likes it and delves deeper into it then I will look into upgrading then. This should be a massive upgrade from her camera phone, thanks all for the replies.
