Not sure how the numbers relate. Mine have a chart showing faint pink as trace up through dark purple as heavy. If I have a bourbon or scotch in the evening I will wake up and show trace or light. After work it's always dark purple. Should be seeing pounds drop but I'm lifting too and am sore. I finally broke the 270 mark at 268. Still fluctuating around 270. I am leaning out and looking a lot more vascular my jeans that fit on Super Bowl weekend are 2-3 sizes to small.

Does anyone else get a good jolt of energy from keto coffee? I use 1 T coconut oil and 1 T Kerry Gold butter. I have used MCT oil, sparingly, it makes the gut go boom at times.

For what it's worth, I've been in nutritional ketosis for 16 consecutive months. Every health marker I know to measure has improved drastically (H-A1C, BGL, HDL, LDL, VLDL, TGL, hsC-rp, BP, TSH, testosterone, body fat) and I'm off six prescription medicines (zero now). Energy is constant, I feel better at 40 than I did at 30 (or 20 for that matter). Worked wonders for arthritis/joint pain, too.
Calories in-calories out was a losing battle for me. The metabolic and hormonal advantages of nutritional ketosis combined with nutrient density from unprocessed foods and intermittent fasting are my normal-why would I go back to what I know doesn't work for me? It's nothing new-my ancestors are this way until the last few decades. Just my experience. YMMV. But it's worth a shot. Well, I haven't weighed in a couple days because I'm at work, but as of Saturday morning I was down 13.4 pounds since I started. It has kind of slowed because I have had some cheats in there. Man, carbs make me feel pretty crappy now. I only ever get hungry when I have gone over on my carbs and come out of ketosis. Aside from those mess ups, I am LOVING the diet. I am technically only about 4 pounds from my goal, but I may lower the goal some. I'm thinking of getting down to 145 and then increasing my calorie intake and hitting the weights to gain some muscle mass. I know that's typically hard on ketosis, but we shall see.
By the way... any "diet" that lets me eat like THIS is a good one in my books... ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats on the loss boy's! I'm down to 265 myself. Started around 280 but I had my daily caloric intake set to high. Dropped it by 100 calories and started intermittent fasting and the weight dropped off! Birthday weekend is coming up and I'll have some carbs then. Until then, it's on!

Been on it now for about 10 weeks or so but I've only really been good about it for about 6 weeks. Working out 4 days a week on my lunch hour, so about 35 min a session. I've dropped right at 30lbs but the best part is, I'm off my my blood pressure medicine. Thats huge for me. Even if there was no other benefit, that would be enough. But my energy is better, and more constant throughout the day, and I just feel better.

Good thread!!
I've been on a Keto diet since January. I was in pretty good shape already, but I am really trying to make a lifestyle change. I run about 40 miles a month and have not really noticed any performance issues. The first two weeks were tough, but I adapted and have been good since. It's pretty sad to look around as see the results of the so called "Food Pyramid" thats being pushed on us - obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. Nothing like doing what the doctor (AMA) and Gov't (FDA) say and then being forced to take 10 different overpriced medicines to be "healthy". Doctors and pharmaceutical companies don't make much money by making you really healthy. Every person is different, but it doesn't take a PhD to see that what has been recommended for the last 60 years in wrong. Do your research, experiment, and above all do what works for you. I had extremely high cholesterol when we checked it about 2 years ago. We dropped every ounce of dietary cholesterol we could out of our diet, got a personal trainer three times a week at the house, and I lost about 20lbs in 6 months.... my cholesterol only went dow from 289 to 283 with ALL THAT. I will be very interested to see my cholesterol after 5-6 months of this diet.

Down to 157.4. My process was faster the first week, but it is still very consistent. That's 15.4 pounds so far, in 3 weeks. Pretty good. And, I'm never hungry! I have noticed that if I ever have hunger feelings, it is typically because I haven't had enough water that day. You really Donne to be vigilant about your water intakez

I'm really cramming in nutrients, so my calorie count is up. I've averaged almost 70g total carbs/day (net would be lower since it's all from vegetables and nuts) but ketones were still just over 2mm last night. I'm really surprised how easy it it's to stay very comfortably in ketosis after being in it well over a year.

Ya, after some initial learning about what will and won't effect your ketosis... it is SUPER simple to stick to this diet after the first few weeks. I have had too many cheat days, but I very quickly end up back in ketosis. Most of my "cheats" are vodka with a carb/sugar free mixer so it isn't a Keto buster.

I think about half of it was water weight. You shed a lot of water when you drop your glycogen stores, since they are bound with water. My love handles are almost imperceivable at this point. I still have a very small layer around the front of my belly, the last little bit of love handles, and a little in my chest. I think I have pretty much determined I will continue the calorie deficit until I hit 146, then I will increase to a mild surplus and hit the weights some and try to gain some in muscle. This was the best diet I was ever on. I did it for 2 years while in College. Would lose body fat and gain about 2-4 lbs in muscle mass a month. If i ever commit to lifting again, id get back on it.

Well, we fell of the bandwagon for a week and a half or two. My wife was sick with the flu/sinus infection and I was out of state for most of it for work. (Man, it sure is hard to eat Keto on the road)
I have felt like absolute crap being back on carbs. I get hungry throughout the day, which I am no longer used to. And, I fell right back into the blood sugar crashes I struggled with before Keto. Luckily, I only gained 2.8 lbs back over that time period. We start back on Keto Monday morning. (Though, technically it already is Monday morning). I can't wait to get back on it. My body just works better in ketosis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm doing it. Started in Jan. Down about 30 pounds so far but I had a few mishaps along the way. Not cheat days, I just wasn't paying enough attention to my macros.
Another thing that has really helped me is adding "intermittent fasting" to the mix. You can youtube it. if you come out of Keto it is a GREAT way to get back in, in a short period of time. Basically the technique I chose is the 16-8. I do not consume ANY calories whatsoever (even my meds) between the hours of 6pm and 10am. I eat my keto meals ONLY during the 8 hour window between 10am and 6pm. |

I watched some of the videos and if I ate like that I would starve.
What are you real folks eating? I work construction so I'm kinda limited what I can eat at lunch and I usually can't eat again until 7pm. I only need to drop 20- 25 lbs. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

For lunch I eat a salad, burgers with no bun, sandwich with no bread or tacos and ditch the tortillas. I cook for a family of 5 every night. I use ground venison for tacos, goulash, burgers and anything else it would be appropriate. Anything on the smoker or grill is fine. We eat a **** ton of broccoli, cauliflower and squash. I needed to lose 20 lbs. as well. I did it in a month and a half. Its easier if you have someone helping you, spouse etc. I get that your on site and its more difficult but Whataburger will make a burger without the bun. I have always hated the feeling of being full to the point where it was so uncomfortable that I would leave a lot of food on my plate. But I love foods that make you feel that way. Mexican food, pasta, chinese, sushi, Pho, pizza, burgers, anything heavy in carbs. I don't feel that way anymore, ever. Carbs slow me down. Maybe its just genetic and I am not of a people who can tolerate a lot of carbs. |

Breakfast if I'm in a hurry is 50 grams whey protein shake with 1/4 cup heavy cream, if I have time I'll scramble 6 whole eggs and two slices bacon and throw a little cheese in there but not too much (gotta watch the dairy). From there on I wing the rest of the day, it's going to be 8oz chicken breast + 1/3 cup almonds, or 1/2 lb moist brisket + as much broccoli as I can stand before I want to puke (which ain't much), or 12 dry rub chicken wings w/blue cheese (careful with the dip most have way too many carbs) + celery. If I can get 6 meals in per day I will, otherwise it's 5 unless I overate at a previous meal then it's impossible for me to eat them all just don't have enough room. If the wife cooks then I end up having all sorts of concoctions but I tend to treat them as "fat sources" and add some chicken breast and greens to them.
*I am not losing weight right now, but I don't eat too terribly much less when I want to shed the lbs, about 750 calories fewer (roughly 1 meal depending) per day and I actually only eat foods I can track (ie not the wife's stuff). Last edited by justletmein; 05-15-2017 at 02:17 PM. |

It doesn't make sense until you are on it... When you aren't in ketosis, much of your "hunger" is simply a drop in blood sugar. It isn't because you don't have enough energy, simply your body addicted to glucose. When in Keto, I don't ever really get "hungry" at all. Your body kicks the glucose habit, and switches to a MUCH more stable energy source... fat. You don't get the energy drops between meals, and often times I have no problem going without eating for 8 or 9 hours. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was what I experienced. Also, as far as food at work... I pack 3 days worth of food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) in an insulated bag for work. No fridge, no microwave. I use a hot plate in an insulated bag called "Hot Logic" ![]() If you have access to a 110 outlet, you have a warm meal. You can heat up food in just about any container. Grab yourself a small cooler, an ice pack, and you are set. Home cooked food is better anyways! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The first 2 or 3 days of intermediate fasting...yes you will get hungry, but after you adapt to it, it will be noon and you won't even have realized it. The hardest part for me is not having my morning cup of coffee. But after a week no coffee in the morning i'm used to it. As far as the hours, you can do them however you want. So long as it is a 16 hour period of no eating. You can change it to only eat from noon (lunch) to 8 (supper)....basically you are only skipping breakfast & morning coffee. Or if you MUST have morning coffee & breakfast then only eat from 6-2 or 7-3. Also, you don't have to do it every week. I started out doing it every other week. I saw results, and i have a goal weight to reach by a certain date so now i'm doing intermediate fasting 2 weeks on 1 week off. Also, if you are doing Keto, there are TONS of online video recipes. I literally mean thousands. You have as many choices on keto as you do not doing keto as most things can be substituted (riced cauliflower & cheese vs. mashed potatoes & cheese) |
