Sour Lake Police Officer, known as Officer Bill around here, responded to a call at local store about man giving people a hard time as they entered and left the store.
When he arrived, he walked up to the man to talk to him, and was jumped on and taken to the ground. Suspect then grab the officer by the head and begin pounding the officer's head on the brick wall and sidewalk till the officer was out. He then stole the officer's weapon and patrol unit and drove off. Abandoned the car a couple of miles down the road and fled into the woods.
Found and arrested after several hours. Has warrants for his arrest in California, New Mexico, and Kentucky. In pictures that they have shown on TV, he is a very big man compared to the two officers escorting him into the jail.
Officer Bill was flown to hospital with major head injuries and is in ICU. Expected to recover, but will be a long process.
