Is what it's all about.
In 2018 I brought my neighbor and his daughter Ellie out to our place for a summertime pig hunt. She wasn't able to get one but she was a pleasure in camp and hunted hard. I told her she could come back anytime.
This past summer she lost her big sister in an auto accident. Needless to say she took it really hard. We had a youth hunt scheduled for October but elected to wait for this weekend.
Once again she hunted hard, asking questions and really into everything. After exercising major patience for a 13 year old all weekend, she made a perfect heart shot on a fat spike. She was so thrilled. It really took me back to sitting there as a kid, before I gave a crap about how old a deer was or if it was a management buck. I had a big old 8 she couldn't get lined up on and I was really disappointed, she couldn't care less. That spike was just as good.
Take a kid hunting or fishing every once in a while. I don't have any children of my own yet and this was a real blessing to help her get a deer.
TLDR; Girl shoots 1st deer (spike). Fat old guy feels sentimental.
