Shooting a deer with a bow when everyone at camp is telling you to switch to a rifle.

Got this guy Saturday morning. Gonna eat good!

He stepped his front shoulder back as I was easing back on the trigger. Blew through his shoulder and lungs. Found the broad head in his lungs.

I shot my first deer with a rifle in probably 10 years, maybe more this year. I did it with all 3 of my kids in the blind with me (all 7 or younger), wearing sparkly JoJo stuff, talking, eating candy, etc. I’m not saying it’s easier to rifle hunt as it’s all a challenge, but IMO there is just something special about getting within bow range of a deer, overcoming all the hurdles you have to to be successful, and sealing the deal with a great shot.

Congrats on the kill, and stick with it. Don’t let anyone convince you to switch to a rifle unless YOU want to.

Haven’t shot one yet with bow but haven’t given up. Could have easily taken several with rifle but guess I’m not that mad at em as I use to be.
