I was fortunate enough to take a couple days off this week to hunt. Got in the stand this morning around 5:30am and settled in for the hunt. Had some movement right at 6 and could barely see the feeder. Then just after the feeder goes off, I have two young bucks pop out of the trees. As I’m watching them, they appear nervous and won’t hop inside the fed pen to eat. Then, I see my target buck coming in from the same direction as them. They continued to mill around the feed pen as my target buck gets to eating the buffet I’ve laid out for him. Get a couple good looks at him and realize he’s the split brow tine. I couldn’t be happier with my good fortune this morning. I almost hunted a different stand this morning but my gut told me to sit here at the last minute. Super glad I made this decision.
