Thinking about bringing my son on a dove hunt on public land. Been reading the rules, and I know I am missing it somewhere but does my 8yo have to have any kind of permit? He will be with me but not hunting. If we do it I will have the APH permit. Anyone know?

I don't think so. I took my son a couple years ago and got checked and GW didn't even bat an eye at him and his BB gun. -

No. Youth do not need APH even if hunting as long as with an adult that does.Comment

They can also be hunting with you. My son has been duck hunting with me since he was 7 (15 now). The refuges we hit are ones that require APH permit. At 17, he will need his own permit.
