Bonnie & I spent the two weeks prior to Thanksgiving hunting in Iowa. We hunted at the same time Eric, Chris & Mark from LOF were there which made for a fun time in camp. Dave was the only one from LOF without a tag in IA this year. We had two cameramen with us so we were able to both hunt at the same time and on day 5 I shot my buck. I decided to stay on and help them get around the different farms etc. After the first week it seemed the mature bucks were locked down & they weren't coming to the call as much as they were the week prior. It was tough hunting, but she hung in there, however she came home for Thanksgiving without a buck. After a week back in Texas she flew back out & met her cameraman in hopes that she might score the second time around. Her first evening hunt she shot a doe! The temps were extremely cold, 9 & 18 degree weather, not reaching above freezing on a couple of days. I was so glad when I got the call that she had shot a mature buck at 30 yards. It was her 3rd evening hunt and she only had one more day of hunting to get it done. This is her 3rd time to hunt Iowa & her 1st buck!
