Well been a while. Had to take a break and take care of business and visit family. Did go fish with Doug and ran the boat. We are in Mexico now for at least 2 weeks.

Didnt catch anything big. Lots of small dorado and bonita but i knew wrong time of year going out. Plan on swimming with whale sharks and a few other things. I may go fish with a commercial guy hand lining bottom fish later next week.

Good thing was once we kinda knew what we were catching I asked if we could put the 30s up and match the tackle with fish. It was fun. Ran a couple 20s and two egg beaters. Ate fresh ceviche and learned some things rigging ill use later

How did I miss this thread until just now. Just got caught up on all your traveling. Good to see you enjoying retirement! We are heading to Isla Mujeres next month. August fishing us probably the worst time to be there. I guess we will be doing bottom fishing or inshore. We are planning on swimming with the whale sharks and scuba diving mostly.

Got up early and went on a boat day- Ran about 20 miles and swam with whale sharks and manta rays- About 3-4 hours of that we went and looked at some awesome shorleline on a protected island then to a reef to snorkel and eat shrimp ceviche- if you come down donít ho on the tours. Find a local to take you- Ive had the same guy twice- First day fishing from 730a- 430. Today 7a to about 315. It was a total of $1300 plus tips for two days.

Jr- I just ask around when I get someplace. The guy Im going with I met through a friend. When you get to an island just ask the first person you get along with well. Bartender- waitress- person selling fruit at market etc. Tell them what you are looking for- Either that or take a cab to the docks one morning or evening and ask around. Most of these guys take out tours booked through tourist companies. They would much rather take a family or small group and cut out the middle man.

Bozeman is higher in elevation, both similar with mountains in the distance.

I ran around up there 1982 - 1983 with some friends - Kalispell was the family setup.

Lotta logging roads from Kalispell to Libby - wind thru the mountains - moose elk and mule deer are out and about right now.

Look at some decent routes, that follow some of the old and original routes, through the mountain passes. Many of them are old logging roads - and natural ponds and lakes are everywhere, full of pike, musky and trout.

Tune the radio into a local AM radio station for news updates - many of the Reservations up there, many of them with huge beautiful land, use AM radios for staying in contact.

I remember hearing many Indian names, on the radio, with various forms of interesting news.

My friends from that time, wife was a nurse and they flew into Reservations on calls via helicopter. Several tribes had elders, who were drunk, and shot at the bird as they tried to settle down for landing. The tribe - took care of these guys so care could arrive.

I am sure some things haven't changed much but, it's not once - what it once was back then, with the mass migration out of California to there -with many of them - setting up that culture blended in with ranchers and reservations. Course, same can be said here, in the Texas Hill Country today.

Have fun and take a ton of photos! Some interesting history up there and many of the old towns, preserved the old Police stations - many tied to western history there.

LOCAL MUSEUMS - HIT THEM!

Texas and Montana - the Texas Hill Country - has a connection with cattle herds from here to there 1800s. You should be treated OK if they recognize where you are from. No Colorado attitudes there - unless things have changed?

Mid 60s sure sounds like the kind of weather to just sit around and watch those fat critters graze in that field. New remodel over barn looks nice, like that cool wood floor. Enjoy your time in Glacier.
