Powder Coat Bumper Advice

Got a C4 Fab bumper for my 4Runner.
I’m getting it powder coated and have the option to add a primer coat and/or a clear coat.
I’m inclined to add the primer— seems like a good idea.
Anybody got an opinion on clear coat over powder for a bumper? It’ll be matte black.

I can’t answer your question but why not spray it with bedliner?

Had the same thought. After talking to a couple of different shops it seems like durability and long term aesthetics favor powder coat. I’ve been told that bed liner will get oxidized/chalky and also peel or chip off more easily.

A good primer will(should) stop the oxidation.. I would imagine the clear coat is to protect from UV degredation of the coloring. Some paints have great metalic protection but get destroyed by UV. It's going to cost you more but the old adage is true, you get what you pay for!!

I’ve had lots of things powder coated and have never heard of primer or clear coating. Paint yes...but not powder.

Shoot it with Rustoleum Bedliner. It will look better and outlast that powder coat.
