    Tractor Diesel Gel

Planning on cranking the tractor for the first time since February's hard freeze this weekend, worried the diesel gelled. Do i need to drain the tank after it gells? or would some sort of additive suffice?

It didn't hurt our tractor and it rode the storm outside the barn. That being said we do run RXP in it every other fill up.

I just put 5gals of fresh diesel in my Mahindra 5570 after it got back above 40* and have been using it like I always have. Probably put 8-10 hours on it since then.

Just a friendly FYI, in case you didn't already know it.
When diesel gels it gets thick like a frozen margarita. When it gets like that it had a hard time following through the fuel system and takes more heat to combust.

As the weather warms up it thaws out and returns to a normal liquid be state.

My .02 is to start it and see what happens before adding any additives.

It ungels after it warms up. You don’t need to do anything to it.

                  I’d worry about batteries.

I didn't bat an eye. Fired it up during the freeze as I had to clear the drive in. No problems.

Start it and run it. Diesel tractors are g2g on anything!
