Default From now on, I'm a hardass on selling stuff here....

Guy said he wanted my shotgun 100%. He would pick it up the next week. Heard nothing, so I texted him. He apologized, said his whole family had COVID, but he would send someone to pick it up the next week. Nothing, then he ghosted me. I had taken it down off the classified for almost 3-weeks. The good news is that I had another buyer. I just can't imagine the lack of conscience you have to have to do that. I mean just say you don't want it. From now on, it's for sale until money in hand. Fool me once.

That's ashamed. I've sold and bought a bunch of stuff here, and this one a-hole is the fly in the ointment. Would be interesting to know if he really had COVID, but I guess I'll leave that alone.

Same thing happened to me except it was just some broadheads. Said he wanted them, he lives pretty close to me, haven’t heard from him since.

Ya thatís no good.

I kind of did the reverse...I spoke for a rifle on here that a friend of mine said he wanted. Seller said it was mine even though we hadnít worked out payment yet, and he closed the thread. Before I sent payment, my friend backed out. Now I own a very nice rifle that I didnít want.

Sometimes the logistics are hard, but so far I am 100% pleased.
Especially with the last three sales and purchases.
None of the logistics were easy. But all good.

I’ve had to back out of a deal before. Agreed to buy a bow and arranged to meet the next weekend. Mid week had a water leak that took everything I had saved up to get it fixed.
But... I communicated with the guy 100 percent of the time. I still feel like an azz but I didn’t ghost him.
Things happen, best to stay in communication and usually there’s no hard feelings involved.

Those things happen, and you shouldn't have been roasted, as long as you were up front with the seller. This guy just disappeared. I asked him multiple times just to let me know if he didn't want it, and got nothing in response.

Ghosting is 100% gutless. Man the F up and face the issue you created. I have much more respect for a person that says hey man I just canít afford it or donít need it, than a d***che that ignores the contact attempts and hopes it all goes away. Communication is key! Had a guy ghost me with a Weatherby brass sale a long time ago here. His name was nimrod something or other.

I like to keep purchases local. However, I never have to worry about purchasing anything since all the good stuff is in Houston or Dallas. But when I do decide and the transaction can’t be done within that day or next I won’t do it, so I don’t mess with transactions greater than 75 miles.

I donít believe Iíve ever sold anything here but have bought a lot of stuff. When I decide Iíll ďtake itĒ, the first thing I want to do is get the payment out if not meeting right away. Being a buyer, itís very important to keep the line of communication open till transaction is complete.

I don’t blame you one bit. Had a buyer for an item once that disappeared for a few days until I went with the next one in line then all of a sudden it’s my fault for wanting first one with cash! Some people just suck!

At least you didn't buy something that wasn't right. I bought a custom takedown recurve bow that the handle was cracked.....in multiple places. Sent him a message the next day and he said he gave the money to his girl friend to pay her rent and it would be months before he could get the money. He was a spike and sold a few things on here and then was gone.

I've had a ton of transactions on here and all were great except one. Pretty much the same thing. Guy stood me up twice in a row then ghosted me. I blame myself on that one though because there were red flags to say the least lol. I just tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Don't take it personally. People are doing this more and more. Happens all the time to me in my side business. I just tell them that I don't do Holds and the first one here with cash in hand is the buyer. That usually gets them motivated to commit or pass.

I've never bought or sold anything here, but do a lot of business through email, text, messenger etc. What I've learned is, the more excited a guy seems to buy your item, the less likely it is to happen. Especially if he uses a lot of exclamation points or emoji's.

"Oh man! ________ is exactly what I've been looking for!!! I've got the cash brother can you hold it for me???"

If he calls you "brother" on top of the punctuation you might as well delete the message and not respond.

Y'all know how it goes. Half the posts on a classified are the "man that'll sell fast" or "wish you were closer" window shoppers with no intent to buy. Then you get the "I'll take it" and there's about a 50% chance they come back with the "can you hold it, will you take less, I need to ask my wife." If you get lucky, you work out a price, and then they go radio silent. Meanwhile you've got the "i'll give you X amount less today but I've got cash" guy bugging you. You move on to the next guy and make a sale. A week later the first guy is complaining that you sold it out from under him.....

don't ever consider a deal done till money changed hands .. it's that simple ... guy wants to buy a rifle, very next day his wife gets drunk , gets in a car accident and hurt somebody .. the last thing on his mind is gonna be buying your rifle ... just saying ! sold my old thermal scope to a "FRIEND" of mine , took him 3 years to pay me back , and toward the end , he ended up re-negotiating the price as newer stuff got cheaper and suddenly I was the one screwing him over. I wonder how much it costs to rent a thermal scope for 3 years ... now i trust CASH IN HAND . ! yep that's a PERIOD at the end!

WOW, I made a thread on here once about the " I will take it " just venting because of a few times people would say I will take it and back out or not respond after committing to the buy.
I got RIPPED by a pile of people about how wrong I was..
wish some of you in this thread would have been around to chime in then ..

Everything is always available until the money is in hand - OR it's someone I've delt with before and feel they are straight up honest. I've had a few deals fall through but in the end it was always for the best and I was never out any money. I am starting to hear more and more about bad faith offers from sellers and buyers alike, though.

I had the same issue when my daughter was selling her FFA rabbits. Several "good" tbh'ers set a date to come get them and then they would just never show up. I called one of them several times to leave a message asking what happened and if they were not coming just to let me know. Got nothing back.
