Default Sales Censorship

I know I shouldnít be surprised but Iíve listed some Magpul flip-up sights for sale on Letgo/Offerup and the Facebook Marketplace and both of my listings were pulled because it was a ďfirearmĒ.

Iím starting to hate all this crap. I hate Facebook but have to have an account because I manage my work account.

I have a feeling itís only going to get worse.

If it really mattered, I don’t think you would ‘have to’ have a FB account. That is a choice.

Why not create a website for the company rather than use fb? My stepson has created numerous websites for companies starting up or wanting to revamp their sites.

This.

If it really mattered, folks would vacate sites like FB.

I donít do Facebook and if a company I look up only has a Facebook page. I move onto the next company.

It goes both ways and either will work. No one ďhasĒ to have Facebook IMO.

If you were a marketing manager for a company with multiple social media accounts, you might.

The best solution is don't use the big tech companies that censor. I do have a facebook account set up a long time ago. But I never get on it and certainly don't post on it. I do not have a twitter account. Not even sure if I would know how to twitter.

If everyone stops using the products then they can not censor.

This^^^. We donít do Facebook either and our school district had all updates on Facebook. So many people in the district donít do Facebook anymore so they update their website live now.

Hereís what I know. A part of job is to manage social media accounts for businesses. In order to manage those pages, I have to have an account. Once thatís not a part of my job anymore I wonít have an account.

I sold a jeep on there last week. It wouldn’t let me list it for the price I wanted to ask and told me it was way over market value. I put the price i wanted in the description and sold it that day. Really irritated me.

I feel like most of you saying ďyou donít need oneĒ are missing the fact that social media marketing is the largest form of marketing now and this guy runs it for his company.

I get you need an account for work, but was the Magpul sights work related or personal? Did you post them here first? I may be building another gun soon so depending on price I may be interested.

when I search for a business with facebook page it is aggravating and usually glance and go. Much prefer a website. Proud to say I've never had an account, and I refuse to let relatives try to post a pick on their account, they know thats fighting words

You FB haters should read up on marketing strategies....

OP...Iíve found that using the FB Page manager app rather than the standard FB app/site is better for me if Iím trying to avoid FB itself.

Social media is BY FAR the most relevant form of advertising/marketing today and itís not even close.

Supporting and utilizing a company like FB is only empowering them further. Capitalism is grand.

Either refuse to use a company like this or live by their rules and don’t complain about it. By utilizing them, you are essential agreeing to their business practices, which in this case, equals censorship.

Whether you personally are selling the Magpul sights, or marketing them online for your employer, the ad being deleted doesnít surprise me one bit. FaceBook is owned and run by whack job Californians who are anti-guns. FB censors everything that doesnít meet their liberal agenda. Social media is a great way to market, you just gotta know the rules that are often politically based.

i have several web sites, one for a feed store and another for a jelly business. FB is a tool to direct people to those site. FB is a snake but as long as you treat it like a snake, you won't get bit.

Trust me, I understand the concept of capitalism....my point was that a guy was frustrated with overreaching policing by FB and was venting. He even said he didnít want to be there but given his role at his company he was required to have access. Telling him not to use it at this point is basically telling him to find another job. ďRefuse to use itĒ i.e. go find a different way to make a living for the OP. Not the most nuanced or helpful take for someone who is a marketing manager.
