DFW Area Steel/Hunting Matches

I am looking to find something in the DFW area to go and compete a couple times a year. Just for a buddy and I to go hone skills and continue learning. I heard of a hunting competition that used to happen in Caddo Mills but they haven't done one since 2019 as far as I can tell. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been looking for some too. The problem is that almost all of them happen on Sundays when I’m in church.

Back in Louisiana we had local F-class monthly competitions that were a lot of fun. This was shooting at 600 yards from the prone position. Not aware of any such competitions in north or east Tx.

The NRL Hunter league has kicked off this year after the success of the Hornady Precision Hunter challenge last year in Colorado. Unfortunately none of the matches are in Texas this year, but they’re worth checking out.

With Triple C closed the only other range that handles matches that I know of is the WAYOUT WEST range at 281 and 20.

Take these recommendations with a caveat, I haven't shot them in a few years due to Triple C's set up. Based on some casual conversations with a few folks, I'd imagine there will be a few ranges stepping up trying to fill the Triple C void.

I'd recommend any one of these matches mostly to meet and greet local shooters. There are several private ranges in the area that host private matches, but you need to know some one and have demonstrated basic competence to gain an invite.

There are a few matches in Oklahoma, but I stay close to home these days.

Lots of good info guys, much appreciated. I wouldnt mind traveling to Oklahoma as long as they are within about an hour or so of DFW metroplex. I used to shoot at TacPro when i was on the Tarleton Rifle Team. I had not heard much about them in the last 20 years since that point.

ETTS in Waxahachie has steel matches all the time. Range goes out to 1K yards (might actually go a little further now).
