      As a kid, we used to get them in the chicken coop all the time. Often 5'+ with the occasional six footer. Their hides are tough and some of the trad guys use then to back self bows. Makes for a cool pattern!

        I had one about 18" long climb a 20 foot tall 2" pipe joint and get in my martin house couple years ago!! I would have loved to have watched that sucker climb that slick galvanized pipe, swing out and get into that bird house!! He got a couple hatchlings but it did't end well for him...

            Rat snake. Known climbers and definitely like to raid bird nests this time of year. You will see them in barn rafters and trees.
