Gambling and casinos.

I have cousins, aunts and uncles that love to go to Casinos and cruises, so they can gamble. I have never understood the attraction/addiction. I went to Vegas a few times when I was younger and enjoyed the scenery but not playing slots, craps or blackjack. Gambling with my hard earned money wasn`t fun or enjoyable. My dad had the addiction though as I witnessed it several times when I was a kid. My mother's child support was lost many times by shooting dice in the back of someone's pasture on the tailgate of someone's pickup truck. I thank God that I never got any enjoyment out of it.

I have a strategy that has always worked for me. My wife and I only go maybe once every three or 4 years and I only play Black Jack. In the early days I always heard that if you can break even it has been cheap entertainment. But the ultimate goal is leave with more than you came with. Here is my method of success. We normally take 500 to split between the 2 of us. I find the right table and she starts working the slots. After I lose my 250.00 I hang with her till she’s tapped out which normally takes a little longer playing the slots. But when her money is gone we both hit the ATM for 1000.00 and leave. It just makes us feel better by leaving with twice as much as we came with.Last edited by Gumbo Man; 08-07-2022, 09:56 AM.

I’m not a gambler other than a little hood em at the house once in a while.
I’ve only been to a casino once. My brother in law took me to one in Shreveport. Ate breakfast at the buffet, it was really good, then he introduced me to penny slots. I put five dollars in and when I got down to about 2.25 dollars I hit for 49 dollars or something like that. I handed that ticket to my wife and told her to cash it in. While she was gone I hit for a couple of more dollars and when that original fiver ran out I got up, we cashed out the other ticket and left. I can honestly say that I came out a winner. I felt absolutely nothing from the experience. No excitement. No fun. No nothing. It’s not even entertaining to me.

I sat on a three card poker table all night and watched a drunk kid from California go on the hot streak of the century and get up $75,000. I sat there for at least 8 hours playing and talking to this kid the whole time. He ended up losing it all and got up and stumbled out of there.
I ran into him the next day in the casino and he had no idea who I was or that he had been up big the night before.

I know this thread is a bit dated, but I couldn't resist jumping in. The casino stories you mentioned are classic! The ups and downs of gambling are like no other, and observing people's reactions to wins and losses is its own form of entertainment.
Since this thread has been around for a while, I'm curious—have you had any change of luck or a new favorite game since last year? Also, if you're considering venturing into online casinos, this Casino Malaysia site has caught my attention recently. Solid lineup of games and they're reputed for their fair play.
Here's to better luck and more fun times ahead, whether it's at the blackjack table or spinning the roulette wheel!1 Photo

Although I did win $40 yesterday on a $20 scratch off.
I haven't made the jump to any online games. I'm almost afraid to as much as I like to gamble. That's one thing I really do like to do. Which is fine to a point. It can be an expensive hobby.Last edited by okrattler; 09-20-2023, 06:38 AM.

I can tell you on roulette the best way to win is split the wheel into 4 quarters and play 1 quarter every time, so quarters will be 10, 10, 9, 9 =38, so pick one and put a dollar on every number, so 1 quarter might be 0,28,9,26,30,11,7,20,32. Yea it's $9 or $10 bet every time. I keep a list on my phone of the numbers in order so the 9 numbers would be on my phone in order 0,7,9,11,20,26,28,30,32, that way I can place my bet fast.
I hear people thinking they're winning but still to this date never seen a positive win/loss statement. Not from one that plays more than 8-10 times per year anyway.

I don't take Kenny Rogers words to heart. "Gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away and when to run."
It's been a common occurrence at the casino for my buddy to nudge me and say "Man you're doing good. Better cash out." Every time I'm like "Dude no way. I'm doing good."
