    Horn growth period south texas

Just curious of the growth time period for south Texas. Heard August and have also heard through September. Our deer the last two to three years shed later in the year.

Are they done or is there still growing time ? Is it dependent on the individual deer?

    Thanks in advance.

Each deer is a bit different. I still have a couple with "bulbs" on the tips up here

I'm not in extreme south Texas but in llano county and I have ten bucks that live around my barn and house on the ranch I work on, and one three bucks already shed velvet and the other seven are in velvet still.

Ours place is near Catarina in south Texas. Some of ours are almost done but some of the others still have bulbs on the tips. I had a few bucks not shed velvet until late September early October last year.[URL]https://vimeo.com/180613948[/URL

This buck we call G2 didn't shed velvet till the 2nd weekend in October.https://vimeo.com/180614222https://vimeo.com/180614222

I'm hoping you are right. I pulled cards last week and sure hope they have more to grow. We too had some shed in Oct last year.

This buck we call Moose still has some growing to do. This was taken on 8/26/16. By the way, this is a low fence ranch with natural genetics.

I have an uncle that lives right on Canyon Lake outside of New Braunfels, Tx (Comal County.) He saw a 10 point buck (about 120 class) rub off all the velvet in about 12 hours on Saturday August 27, 2016. This seems kind of "early" for this part of Texas.

We're in Maverick County and our bucks finish anywhere from Sept 1 to Sept 30. Had one add a 7" drop last year that was only a bump in late August. Our theory is it's based on their birthday. The ones that finish early, shed early.
