Default gate openers, which is better?

I want to install a electric entry gate and heard these two companies (Apollo, Patriot) for the opener. Anyone have good or bad experience with either?

Patriot all day !
Apollo used to be great, but now has plastic gears.
Won’t last half the time as US Automatic. We replace them with Patriots all the time.

I had a Mighty Mule for nine or ten years and it served me well but I think I just got lucky, judging by others experiences.
When it finally died , I did a lot of research and settled on a Nice. I think Nice bought Apollo. They are an Italian company, I believe.
Once I got it adjusted, it’s been a very good gate opener for me. Trouble free and reliable.

I have installed several of the Nice/ Apollo openers. Have had no problems with almost any of them, but have one thats an endless issue. I have had to replace every single component and am currently working on replacing the entire system.
I have been looking at switching to the US automatic Patriot. Local vendor, local parts, and a better warranty but not sure one system justifies leaving Apollo.

1st one I installed was a Nice Apollo. Constant PIA. Instructions for set-up caused me so much confusion. I hated it.

Now I have a US Automatic Patriot. Super easy to install. Simple, easy to follow instructions. I had this one set-up and going in no time.

I have a $300 mighty mule. So far so good. Works great. When it breaks I’ll buy another one.

Patriot and Lift Master are the only ones that seem to hold up. We've tried several other brands with no luck.

One of the big differences in mighty mule vs Apollo/liftmaster/US Automatic is the speed. The MM is slow as molasses. If you are an impatient person, you will love the mighty mule....LOL

My Might Mule remote works from at least 300 yards. Iím impatient as hell but have a spot that I click the remote. The gate is open when I get there.

I have a Patriot opener and itís fast and has been dead reliable for me. Their tech support is phenomenal. I had to call them after hours on an issue I was having and the tech called me at 7:30PM and had me going in no time. He knew every component of that opener including individual electronic components on the circuit board.

My gate opens at least 1.5x faster than my neighbor and my gate is bigger and heavier than his.

I have an old Apollo and if I had to choose between the new Apollo or Patriot I would go with the Patriot

FWIW my Apollo now has a Patriot board in it

Have also heard good things about Ghost and they are considerably cheaper I am told

I work for a fence supply company and we sell Liftmasters most, then I'd say a toss up between US Auto and Viking. Apollo (Nice) pre-dates me but all of our customers say once they went to Nice, their quality went way down, so we don't even sell them anymore. OP I'd personally go with a US Automatic.

I vote for Apollo.

7 years trouble free.

One interesting note. I bought a second receiver/antenna for it that allows me to open the gate from the house 2500' away...clear line of sight.

I recommend Ghost Control. Mine has 2 years on it with no problems. The "Zombie Lock" they sell is a pretty nice addition.

Another vote for Ghost Controls. I researched the heck out of gate openers and felt they had the best bang for the buck in terms of quality and value. My gate weighs 250+ pounds and the single arm GC system handles it with ease. As for speed, I wouldnít claim itís fast but itís on par with most of the others IMO. I also found a video on YouTube where a guy installed a extended range antenna so I did the same to mine. Only spent about $12 and it works flawlessly. My gate is about 300í from my shop and I can open and close it with the remotes when my driveway alarm lets me know someone is at the gate. With that kind of range you can trigger the gate to open way before you get to it and thereís plenty of time.

Hereís a video I shot of mine the other day.
