Hunt the acorns. Save the feeders for late season.

We are stupid dry in Walker county. Most of the trees on my place are abandoning everything to conserve water. One little oak by the house has acorns but they are tiny, like the size of a green pea and are being dropped. The other trees on the property are losing leaves and I have yet to find any acorns on the usual producers. The pine trees have dropped half of their needles too. Pray for rain.

Red oaks are hanging heavy haven't done much white oak looking. My muscidines have about half the fruit from last year.

I scouted acorn trees on my McLennan County grounds a couple weeks ago and found about 50% of the Live Oaks and more like 75% of the others around the house had acorns on them.

The Acorns trees on my Bosque County river grounds had very few acorns on them.

Not sure about them on my Christoval lease grounds yet, but I would imagine there will be a few.........

Looks like a decent crop this year in my area. We’re all hardwoods so there’s always a few, but last year seemed kinda slim in most spots. I always hope for a good hard mast year because it really helps our wildlife out.

I’m not sure if there’s any science behind it, but a few good rains in September seems to help the acorns fill out. We got 1.5” yesterday and it’s been raining a decent amount this summer, so we’ll see.

Great idea! Which one of my 500 oaks should I sit under?? Oh, I know. The one that all the deer are under.
