Default COVID-19 hits close to home

This is my wife's childhood friend, I know he was a very active person and reasonably healthy. Liked to bike and play sports.

Prayers"........
So USAF Medical daughter figured this out after looking at her medical records and tests concerning her illness during/after Christmas. She said talking to the doctors she works with all results leaned to COVID-19 and she gave it to me over Christmas holiday and this is what I had going into the New Year. All symptoms matched. Had to cancel my New Year hunt because of it. ZPac and wife’s chicken soup kicked it
Crazy Huh?

There is hope to be a cheap antibody test out in the next few weeks to see who has already had it an recovered.

Very sad. Originally docs were saying the virus is killing the old and folks with compromised health. Now your seeing it kill the young and healthy.

What I have been hearing / reading is while it hurts the elderly the most, they tend to linger with the illness before passing & if you happen to be younger, with the more aggressive (20% rule) type, it hits hard & fast.

I too think we may have had it about 3-4 weeks ago with all having cold / mild flu symptoms.

My wife and son were very sick in December as well. Several of our neighbors and family members also. Some tested positive for the flu, some did not. My wife and son did not get tested. The coughing was horrible for my wife and pretty bad for my 7 yr old, both with high fevers. My wife never sits still and hardly got out of bed for two days. Coughed bad for two weeks. I think they had it.

Prayers for the family. Had they recently traveled and maybe been in contact or did he contract it randomly? I'm at a loss why the rest of his family doesn't have it. I ask because a man here in Gregg county passed away from it and now his wife has tested positive.

My step-daughter is a teacher in NB, this man was the father of one of her students.

Natalie told us the community is really shocked over this, too close to home.

Prayers for the family and just ANOTHER reason to take this seriously!!

Very sorry to hear about your friend. I just read an article about him and discussed it with my wife. Truly heart-breaking.

I guess he was undergoing dialysis and suffered a brain aneurism during treatment, but there have been others that were healthy and died from it. I just don't understand how this **** bug can easily take someone in perfect health, yet doesn't cause so much as a sniffle in others?? I will definitely send out a prayer for the family.

If he was going through dialysis he was definitely not “perfectly healthy” like the news is claiming. If he had an aneurysm from treatment, he didn’t die from the virus.

Sad deal either way, prayers for the family.

Yes, please cite your source. His family said he was in perfect health; he didn't smoke or drink and ate a healthy diet.

Why do you say he was on dialysis if his family did not mention it?

I think there are two different strains. One more deadly but less contagious than the other. Just my wild *ss theory.

If he went into Septic Shock, which I bet he did, they may have started dialysis to clean his blood as much as possible while waiting for the antibiotics to work.

This virus isnít something to ignore or screw with. I said a month ago that before this is over we will all know someone who got it and will likely know someone who died from it. People rolled their eyes. Texas is still on the flat tail of the exponential curve we are seeing in all areas significantly effected by this virus. It will get worse for Texas, especially in urban areas. Stay inside and be smart.
