First and foremost, I had no idea what I was doing. It hasn't blown up yet, so that's a good thing. I ultimately ended up building this the way I did because it's mobile, I can put it under our patio awning, start it, and turn it off in seconds. Only draw back is I don't get the smell of burning wood, but convenience wins out on this. I used 3/8" black pipe for the burner. Used 70+ year old tin and wood off an old family barn for the box. Lava rock for around the burner, may switch to crushed glass, I like the glass better, but the lava rock was cheaper, and readily available, and I wasn't 100% sure it was going to even work until I actually fired it up. I still have to come up with an idea on finishing the top off to cover the sheet metal and frame, but that's another day. Anyone who knows what they are talking about see any concerns about this before I stack the family around it?????
