It seems like as soon as this years model comes out there are always a bunch of last years for sale. Same thing happened with Halon and Halon 32 when Triax came out. Happens every year.

One word MATHEWS... sorry couldn’t resist! Probably more of it has to do with the Vetrix they just came out with. Looks like everyone is looking for a 30” ATA platform in 2019.

I love the triax that being said, the new grip on the vertix feels awesome. If the triax has that grip I wouldn’t think about selling. But yeah, I’d be selling it to get a vertix.

I know you're kidding but it aint the bow. They all kill. My bow is well over ten years old and it kills every time I squeeze and hold on a spot. Still shooting' about 285. Oh yea it's a Mathews but I couldn't give a rip. Just want a weapon that does the job I need it to do. When there is something significantly better, I'll be the first to spend $1,000 plus for one.

A type of electrical cable similar to coaxial cable, but with the addition of an extra layer of insulation and a second conducting sheath. It provides greater bandwidth and rejection of interference than coax, but is more expensive.

My big problem is I own a spare DXT that I bought used, in the case that this DXT gives up the ghost. I don't have a need to buy a new bow but I'm curious to know how the newer ones shoot by comparison

IMO, the difference in a 10 year old bow and what's available today is going to be very noticeable and could probably be worth the upgrade but the change from year to year is so insignificant that I can't justify the expense. Used archery tackle is also very hard to re-sell and re-coup much of the initial investment. I've always felt that archers are much like bass chasers (been there, done that too) the newest, fanciest, shiniest, best advertised must be better, huh?

Technology can advance so darn fast. I think there's probably minimal difference between bows that are only a few years old. However, I pulled back on a 2016 bow and it was buttery smooth compared to my SBXT. Significant difference from my 8-10yr old bow.

If and when I decide to upgrade it'll be out of curiosity not necessity.

I think itís split.

I donít think that is as many as some people think. That bow just hit a sweet spot especially on the East side of the country. And it surprised people that it really didnít shoot like a 28Ē ATA of bows past. I think a lot of people realized that sub 30 the compact rig was perfect for what they wanted. That bow also changed the how quiet can a bow be metric.

Then agree a lot succumbed to Mathews marketing.

So if you bought a Triax but the ATA always bothered you just because, the Traverse and Vertix brought longer ATAs with same or better quietness. Iím curious how the 5 does for short draw shooters, it maybe the unsung practical hero.

^ yes I love Mathews, and I can admit it. Plenty of other good bows out there also without their names in them.

I sold my Triax... got a Vertix. Why... mainly because I wanted to and have the ability to get a new bow when I want. I like to shoot all the flagship bows each year.. Elite, Prime, Hoyt, and Mathews. I pick what I want outta the group if anything shoot better than what I got. I wasnt sure that the Vertix would be better than the Triax.. but it was. Think it was mainly the new grip. Same dead in the hand and balanced.. just as smooth too.

Not sure why its such a big deal that some folks get new bows quicker than others. I dont bag on guys shooting a 10yo bow and dont question why they haven't upgraded.

Triax was a fine bow.. I shot mine 1/2in short due to the string angle and how I wanted to anchor. Had no issues holding good groups out to 70. I had reservations about selling it not only due to how it shot but I took it to Africa for my first ever trip... but such is life.

I ask because as a consumer Iíd rather know if it was something wrong with the product or just a need/want aspect. From what Iíve gathered the grip on the triax isnít very favorable thatís good real world feedback from the thread and the point of it. Thanks

My response was not completely directed towards your question, rather some of the other poster's comments. I only wanted to offer you my real experience with the Triax, not question your motive in asking your original question. My apologies if it came off that way.

I will add one more piece of info for your consideration... the Triax was one of Mathews best selling bows and there seem to be more people getting into the sport... couple that with the usage of social media/forums etc by what seems to be almost everyone... and you have a recipe for seeing a lot more of anything if you are looking for it.
