Mconner, they are on my list to buy too. Have you looked into the new HD models vs the older SLCs? I have the 10x42 el range and love them.

Have you checked out ebay? There are a few used pairs up for auction on there. Theres also a new pair for $1677. Looks like a great price compared to some of the used pairs.
