Really nice work. Did you practice on a prototype first ?

How durable is it? I've been thinking about doing that to my rifle. Just wondering how the coating holds up to wear and tear, if it starts to chip at all.

You want to use the toughest clear coat you can find. I used some i got at the auto parts store. Made for wheels. I had camoed an old hardwood stoch for my marlin 25m, and the clear coat is too soft. So i searched for the best i could when i did this to my r700.
There is a 2 part rattle can clear coat out there, but its pricey, ans has a short shelf life after mixing.

There is a how to a member did a few years ago in the DIY section.

It will wear down and chip I am sure. Just do it again I guess.

I had done a couple of other guns 3-4 years ago. It isn't hard and there is really no right or wrong. I let my 11 grandson warm up the paint cans on his .177 pellet gun.

I copied the OP and it was a pretty easy process. Turned out good
